About our water feature pumps

Seven mains pumps from 450 to 3,000 litres per hour, £49 to £99, plus one solar option. These run every self-contained feature in our water features range. Reservoirs and grids are under water feature reservoirs, and decorative toppings under pebble pools.

Pump sizes and what they drive

Match the pump to the feature height, not the reservoir size.

Matt's note, June 2026

Pumps are the range nobody browses and everybody eventually needs. None sold through our top 100 in the year to June 2026 because they ship inside feature orders, not alone. The sizing rule that prevents most returns: match flow to the height water must climb, then halve the headline figure. A pump rated 1,100 lph at the outlet delivers roughly half that a metre up the pipe. For a standard 50cm sphere, 1,100 lph is right. Oversizing splashes the reservoir dry in a windy week.

Frequently asked questions

What size pump do I need?

Match flow rate to the height water must rise. For features up to 50cm, 1,100 lph is right. For columns near a metre, step up to 2,000 lph or more.

How much do feature pumps cost?

Mains pumps run £49 to £99. The 450 and 1,100 lph sizes are £49, and the lit 1,000 lph pump with spot light is £99.

Why is my fountain weaker than the pump rating?

Ratings are measured at the outlet with no lift. Every metre of height and tight pipe bend cuts flow. Expect roughly half the headline figure at the top of a typical feature.

Should I run the pump in winter?

No, pull it out before the first hard frost. Clean the impeller, store the pump in a bucket of water indoors so the seals stay wet, and refit in spring.
