About our deer sculptures
Our deer capture the quiet beauty of British wildlife for the garden. Most pieces are cast in aluminium with a hand-finished aged-bronze and verdigris patina, which holds fine detail, individual antler tines, muscle definition, the turn of a head, while weighing far less than cast iron. Three of the larger standing stags use a heavyweight crushed-marble and resin with a bronze coating, for a solid, stone-feel weight that resists wind.
The range covers five poses: the alert stag buck standing watchful, the grazing doe with head lowered, the lying fawn at rest, the proud standing stag in bronze, and a matched stag-and-doe pair. Prices run from £85 for a stag's-head bust on a marble base up to £499 for the extra-large stag buck. Every piece comes with free UK delivery.
Which material is right for you?
Both materials handle UK weather without flinching. The cast-aluminium pieces are rated from -15°C to 40°C, will not crack in frost, fade in UV, or rust in rain, and a 97cm stag buck weighs only around 8-12kg, so one person can carry and reposition it. The crushed-marble-and-resin stags are frost-resistant too, but much heavier, which suits exposed or windy gardens where weight keeps a tall stag stable. The bronzed finish on both develops a warm, aged patina that looks like real bronze at a fraction of the cost. Our guide to choosing the right ornament material covers the full comparison.
How do the deer sculptures compare on size and price?
| Sculpture | Pose | Height | Material | Price | Best placement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stags Head on Marble Base | Bust | 58cm | Aluminium | £85 | Desk, mantel, garden table |
| Lying Fawn | Resting fawn | 32cm | Aluminium | £119 | Borders, beneath trees, path edges |
| Stag & Doe Pair (Small) | Matched pair | 52cm / 31cm | Aluminium | £149 | Patios, plinths, beside ponds |
| Stag Buck (Small) | Alert standing | 67cm | Aluminium | £199 | Borders, rockeries, patio corners |
| Small Standing Stag in Bronze | Standing | 88cm | Marble & resin | £219 | Lawns, garden rooms, windy sites |
| Grazing Doe (Medium) | Head lowered | 47cm | Aluminium | £249 | Borders, woodland corners |
| Stag Buck (Large) | Alert standing | 97cm | Aluminium | £299 | Lawn centrepiece, formal gardens |
| Large Standing Stag in Bronze | Standing | 120cm | Marble & resin | £369 | Driveway entrances, exposed sites |
| Grazing Doe (Large) | Head lowered | 63cm | Aluminium | £449 | Lawn settings, paired with a stag |
| Lying Stag in Bronze | Lying | 124cm long | Marble & resin | £479 | Paving, decking, gravel borders |
| Stag Buck (Extra Large) | Alert standing | 102cm | Aluminium | £499 | Driveways, large formal gardens |
The highlighted row is what most customers choose. The large stag buck at 97cm commands attention from 10-15 metres away but still fits an average UK garden. For a true statement at a driveway or on an exposed site, the 120cm standing stag in bronze has the height and the weight to hold its ground.
Matt's installation tip: positioning deer sculptures
Never place a deer sculpture dead centre on a lawn facing the house. It looks like a garden centre display. Instead, angle the stag slightly off-axis, as though it is turning to look at something. Position it at the end of a path or emerging from a planting border. The goal is a moment of surprise, you spot the stag through the foliage, not staring at you head-on. With the small stag-and-doe pair, stagger them: the stag a step ahead, the doe slightly behind and to one side. That mimics how deer actually move through woodland.
Where to place deer sculptures for maximum impact
Deer sculptures work in formal and informal settings but need space to breathe. A large stag needs at least 2-3 metres of clear ground around it. Set against a backdrop of evergreen hedging, yew, laurel, or box, the bronzed finish stands out sharply against the dark foliage. For more placement ideas, see our guide on positioning garden ornaments, the principles apply equally to metal.
A tall standing stag suits the end of a long sight line, position it where you see it from a distance, like the far end of a lawn or the turn of a path. A pair of large stag bucks can flank a driveway or gateway. Grazing does, lying fawns and the small stag-and-doe pair work at ground level among low planting or beside a stone bird bath or water feature.
Matt's pick for deer sculptures
Best For: A lawn centrepiece or formal garden where you want one classic, alert stag
Why I Recommend It: The large stag buck is the piece people picture when they search for a deer sculpture. At 97cm it reads clearly from across the garden, the cast aluminium keeps it light enough to move, and the hand-finished antlers and muscle detail are genuinely good. It is the size I steer most customers towards: big enough to land, not so big it overwhelms a normal garden.

Why we chose this range
"We tested over thirty deer sculpture suppliers before settling on this collection. Most cheap deer sculptures use thin sheet metal that dents on delivery, or resin that cracks after two winters. Our aluminium pieces use heavy-gauge moulds that capture genuine anatomical detail, antlers individually cast, not stamped, and the poses are based on real deer behaviour. The bronze-finished marble-resin stags add the weight you want for a tall, exposed position. I wanted sculptures a wildlife artist would approve of, not cartoon deer from a Christmas display."

Caring for deer sculptures in UK weather
The bronzed aluminium deer need almost nothing. Wash with warm soapy water once a year in spring to clear winter grime. The protective clear coat lasts 5-8 years before it needs a touch-up with clear outdoor metal lacquer (£8-£12 from any DIY shop). Avoid pressure washers and abrasive cleaners. The marble-resin stags clean the same way; just wipe the bronze coating gently rather than scrubbing it. For our full guide, see caring for garden ornaments, the cleaning principles apply to all materials.
For anchoring: the heavier standing stags stay put under their own weight in most positions. For exposed sites, drill through the base plates and bolt to a 600mm paving slab using M10 expansion bolts. Lighter pieces can be pinned with tent pegs or U-pins through the feet. Matt's note, June 2026
No deer piece cracked our site-wide top 100 in the year to June 2026, and I am fine with that. Deer are statement buys. People purchase one stag in a decade, not three small ones a year. Fourteen pieces are in stock, £85 to £499, with most interest sitting around the £249 grazing doe. Scale is everything with deer. The 120cm standing stag needs ten metres of viewing distance to land properly. For a normal suburban garden, the grazing doe and lying-fawn poses sit better than a full set of antlers.
Frequently asked questions
How heavy are the largest deer sculptures?
The cast-aluminium deer weigh roughly 8-15kg depending on pose and size. The extra-large stag buck is among the heaviest at around 12-15kg, heavy enough to stay stable in wind, light enough for one person to carry. The crushed-marble-and-resin standing stags are noticeably heavier, which is the point: the weight keeps a tall stag steady on an exposed site. Either way, you avoid the 80kg-plus lift of a solid cast-iron deer.
What material are your deer sculptures made from?
The majority are cast in aluminium with a hand-finished aged-bronze patina. Aluminium is rust-proof, frost-resistant (rated -15°C to 40°C), and captures fine detail like antler tines and muscle definition. The three larger standing stags use heavyweight crushed marble and resin with a bronze finish, for a solid, stone-feel weight. Both finishes look like real bronze at a fraction of the cost.
Do deer sculptures need any maintenance?
Bronzed aluminium deer need one wash per year with warm soapy water. The protective clear coat lasts 5-8 years. When it dulls, a tin of clear outdoor metal lacquer and 20 minutes restores the finish. No painting, no oiling, no rust treatment. They handle UK rain, frost, and UV without any intervention. The marble-resin stags clean the same way with a gentle wipe.
What size deer sculpture should I choose for my garden?
For most UK gardens, the large stag buck (97cm) gives the best visual impact. Busts and fawns (32-58cm) suit borders, patios and tabletops. The medium grazing doe (47cm) works as a quiet standalone. The large stag buck commands attention from 10-15 metres. The 120cm standing stag suits driveways and exposed sites. If in doubt, go one size up, a deer that is too small for its setting disappears into the planting.
Can deer sculptures stay outside all winter?
Yes, the finishes are rated from -15°C to 40°C and handle all UK weather. Unlike thin resin or ceramic, neither aluminium nor the crushed-marble composite cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. There is no need to move deer sculptures indoors or cover them in winter. The bronzed finish actually develops a richer patina over time, looking more natural with each season.
How should I anchor a large deer sculpture?
In sheltered positions, the heavier stags stay stable under their own weight. For exposed sites or windy gardens, drill through the base plates and use M10 expansion bolts into a 600mm paving slab. This also deters theft. For lighter pieces on soft ground, tent pegs or U-pins through the feet work well. Never stand a heavy sculpture directly on soft lawn, use a paving slab or gravel pad underneath.
Do you sell a matched stag and doe pair?
Yes, the stag and doe set is sold as one matched pair at £149. It pairs a 52cm alert stag with a 31cm resting doe in a matching bronzed finish, designed to complement each other in pose and scale. If you want a larger grouping, single stag bucks, grazing does and lying fawns can be bought separately and arranged as your own herd.
