The square shape gives this sundial a tidy, architectural look. It works particularly well on a straight-sided stone plinth.

The plate measures 20.3cm square, with a circular hour scale set neatly inside its border.

Fine radial lines and Roman numerals keep the design traditional. A curved support holds the raised gnomon firmly in place.

Choose an open spot where trees and walls will not block the sun. Keep the plate level and point noon towards true north.

Outdoor brass changes colour over time. Leave the natural patina alone or polish the surface when you prefer more shine.
