This sundial has a wonderfully expressive sun and moon face. The small stars and beaded borders add detail without overwhelming it.

Its 20.3cm diameter suits many garden plinths and wall caps. The polished brass is warm without looking too bright outdoors.

A raised gnomon crosses the two faces and casts its shadow onto the Roman numeral scale.

Place the sundial where it receives several hours of direct sunlight. Level it carefully, then point the noon mark towards true north.

The brass will gradually develop a natural patina. Occasional metal polish will bring back more of the original shine.
