This medium armillary is a good choice when a full-sized model would dominate the space. It still has plenty of traditional detail.

The brass rings surround an angled arrow and Roman numeral band. At 17cm high, it fits comfortably on a modest plinth.

Its circular mounting foot measures 7.5cm across. Use fixings suited to your chosen stone, timber or masonry surface.

Make sure the base is level before pointing the arrow towards true north. Recheck it after strong winds or freezing weather.

The brass will weather naturally outdoors and gain a softer patina. Polish it periodically if you prefer a brighter appearance.
