Matt's note, June 2026
Finials sell in pairs, almost always for gateposts, and usually after a wall rebuild. None made our top 100 in the year to June 2026, which is normal for a four-piece range. Prices run £99 to £269. Fitting advice from the trade: bed the finial on a ring of exterior landscape adhesive, not mortar dabs. Adhesive grips the full base, stays slightly flexible, and will not pop off in frost the way a hard mortar joint can. Check the pier cap is level first. A leaning finial is visible from the end of the street.
A finial is the ornamental top for a pillar, pier or gatepost. Traditional shapes are the ball, the acorn and the fir cone, all cast here in frost-proof reconstituted stone.
Use exterior landscape adhesive in a ring around the base. It grips the whole footprint and flexes with temperature. Avoid mortar dabs, which crack and let water in.
The range runs £99 to £269. Fir cones start at £99, the Keymer acorn is £175, and the large ball on base is £269.
Yes, all four designs are dense cast stone. They handle UK freeze-thaw winters without sealing or covers, and weather to a soft aged finish within a couple of years.
