This 60cm corten steel sphere turns any garden corner into a focal point. Water rises through the centre and cascades evenly down the curved surface, catching the light as it flows.
We handle water features daily, and corten steel is one of our favourite materials. The 1.5mm thick steel reacts with the elements to form a protective rust layer. That patina deepens and changes over the first few months, then stabilises. No two spheres look quite the same after a season outdoors.
At £599, the kit arrives complete with a submersible pump and reservoir tray. Place the reservoir on a level surface, sit the sphere on top, fill with water and plug in. The whole setup takes under ten minutes with no specialist tools.
At 600mm across, the sphere works well on a patio, decking area or nestled among border planting. Surround it with pebbles or cobbles to hide the reservoir and create a natural gravel bed effect.
Corten steel needs no painting, sealing or annual treatment. The oxidised surface actually protects the metal beneath. Just keep the reservoir topped up and clean the pump filter once a season.
