About Our Modern Garden Sculptures
Our modern garden sculptures collection holds 36 pieces across six material categories. Abstract art statues and hand sculptures are hand-cast from reconstituted stone by Lucas Stone in the UK. Natural stone water features are carved from quarried granite, sandstone, marble, and basalt. Prices range from £145 to £1,199. Every piece is designed for permanent outdoor placement in UK weather conditions.
The collection splits into four main types. Eight abstract art statues (£175–£399) include the Henry, Florence, George, and Vortex ranges. Seven hand sculptures (£259–£499) span fountains, planters, and standalone pieces. Seventeen natural stone water features (£295–£1,199) cover granite spheres, sandstone bowls, and marble fountains. Four figurative pieces complete the range.
"Modern sculptures are the pieces people photograph the most. The hand statues get a reaction every time. Visitors walk past a hedge and suddenly there is a giant hand pointing at them. The granite spheres sell well because water rolls over the surface all day. You do not need to fill them often in a UK summer."

Quick Guide: Reconstituted stone suits abstract and hand sculptures. It takes detail well and develops a natural patina over 6–12 months. For water features, natural granite and sandstone are heavier but require zero maintenance. The weight also keeps them stable without fixings.
Matt's Installation Tip
Position modern sculptures where they catch side-light in the morning or evening. Front-lit pieces look flat. Side-light picks out surface texture and shadow. For granite spheres, set the reservoir basin level first. Use a spirit level on the rim before adding the stone. A tilted sphere sends water off-centre and the pump runs dry on one side.

Modern Garden Sculptures: Frequently Asked Questions
Most are reconstituted stone, natural granite, or sandstone. Reconstituted stone suits detailed hand and abstract sculptures. Natural granite and sandstone are used for water features. We also stock marble, basalt, and limestone pieces. All materials are frost-proof and UV-stable for UK weather.
Stone sculptures weigh 8–30 kg; granite water features reach 80 kg. Abstract art statues like the Henry range weigh 8–15 kg. Hand sculptures weigh 15–25 kg. Granite sphere water features are the heaviest. The Pink Polished Granite Sphere weighs around 80 kg. We recommend two people for any piece over 20 kg.
They need a mains electric supply, not a water connection. Each water feature recirculates the same water through a pump. You fill the reservoir once and top up occasionally in hot weather. The pump plugs into a standard outdoor socket. We supply the pump and fittings with every feature.
Stone sculptures develop a natural patina over 6–12 months. Reconstituted stone gradually darkens in areas where moss and lichen settle. This is considered part of the appeal. Natural granite and marble keep their polished finish permanently. If you want to slow the patina, apply a clear stone sealant once a year.
The Henry range at £175 is designed for compact spaces. Henry statues stand 40–60 cm tall and weigh under 15 kg. They fit on a patio, in a border, or on a low wall. For a water feature in a small space, the Small Babbling Bowl in Black Limestone (£469) has a footprint under 40 cm.
Use exterior silicone or a concrete pad for stability. Most stone pieces are heavy enough to stay in place. For lighter abstract statues under 10 kg, apply exterior silicone between the base and a paving slab. For lawn placement, set the piece on a buried 300 mm paving slab to prevent sinking.
Switch the pump off when temperatures drop below 2°C. Granite itself is frost-proof. The pump is not. Drain the reservoir or bring the pump indoors from November to March. The stone can stay outside through any UK winter. Reconnect the pump in spring and refill the reservoir.
