The Chatsworth Lion Statues are faithful reproductions of Antonio Canova's original 18th-century sculptures. Canova created the originals for the Rezzonico monument in Venice. The Duke of Devonshire later commissioned a pair for Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.
Each lion is cast in reconstituted stone using traditional moulding techniques. This process captures fine detail in the mane, musculature, and posture. The stone develops a natural patina over time as moss and lichen attach to the surface.
At 360mm high and 670mm deep, each statue sits well on gateposts, plinths, or either side of a garden path. The pair weighs 112kg combined, so they stay firmly in place without fixing.
Choose from Aged Cotswold for a classic pale stone finish or Burnt Umber for a warmer, darker tone. Both colours arrive with a lightly weathered appearance that blends into established gardens immediately.
Priced at £260 for the pair, the Chatsworth Lions make a striking entrance feature. Free UK delivery is included on every order.
